It is responsible for producing multiple hormones that control thyroid function, growth, and stress response, among others. The pituitary gland is located at the base of your brain. Adrenal disorders are a result of these glands producing too much or not enough of these hormones. They produce hormones that are vital to your body’s functioning, such as sex hormones and the stress hormone called cortisol. The adrenal glands are located at the top of each kidney.
